LATAM are the major airline group for South American travel and as part of oneworld it opens up many route options through this region via their Santiago hub city.

Latam Exiting oneworld

LATAM has given notice that they will exit oneworld. Until LATAM’s exit, passengers will continue to receive the oneworld benefits associated with LATAM’s membership. However, Qantas Frequent Flyers making new bookings for travel from 1 October 2020 on LATAM flight numbers will no longer receive Status Credits. Status Credits

Base status credits is for Melbourne-Santiago return. South American internal flights will drastically increase status credits. For example, Melbourne – Sydney – Auckland – Santiago – Bogota and return would yield 640 status credits! Whilst promoted as a LATAM deal we will attempt to book you on Qantas flight numbers to Santiago instead to maximise status credits and this could further improve status credit accrual.
