Following the arrival of the newly upgraded A380 into Australia, Qantas has today announced that the best of Australian fashion, design and food will all be showcased on the upgraded aircraft.
Australian industrial design David Caon redesigned the aircraft’s upper deck lounge, which has been significantly expanded and now has enough seating for 10 people on deep green leather couches with wood panelled walls. While in the lounge travellers will be able to order from a range of bespoke snacks and light meals, as well as signature cocktails including Australian Negroni served with mountain pepper and river mint, or the Qantas gin and tonic with pink grapefruit. Travellers will be able to choose from dishes including dry Laska Goreng with fishcakes and seared prawns to mushroom arancini in a tomato ragu as part of custom-designed menus for each route.
Qantas has used the upgrade of the A380 to roll out several improvements for its First Class passengers that will come into effect in November. Some of the changes include a refreshed First Class Suite with new cushioning, redesigned Martin Grant pyjamas in dark charcoal, and LaGaia Unedited amenity kits.
The new amenity kits incorporate a Qantas-signature scent from the Australian natives lemon myrtle and geranium. The kit will include a facial mist, moisturiser and lip balm. LaGaia Unedited products will also be stocked in the First lavatories and the First Class lounges in Sydney and Melbourne.
