Over the weekend Qantas began direct flights between Brisbane and San Francisco with the new 787-9 Dreamliner operating on the brand new route.
The 12-hour and 40 minute flight to San Francisco (QF59) will cover 11,367km from Brisbane and marks the first time the two cities have been linked by non-stop flights.
Qantas currently operates direct daily flights from Sydney and four times a week from Melbourne to San Francisco. The new flight from Brisbane will operate three days a week on a Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
In April Qantas will start flying from Brisbane to Chicago, adding another unique route to its network using the Dreamliner.
These new flights will connect Australian travellers to two unique cities for commerce and culture in the United States and will save customers around four hours of travel time compared to the one-stop options currently on offer.
