LATAM Airlines has announced that they will soon be introducing a new non-stop service between Melbourne and Santiago, Chile. The flight, at around 15 hours, will be the longest in the airline’s history and the first of any airline to offer a direct link between the 2 cities.
The service will commence in October 2017 with three Melbourne to Santiago flights per week, departing Melbourne on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday evenings.
Economy, Premium Economy and Premium Business cabin classes are available on each flight, operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft. All cabin classes feature individual touch screens with in-flight entertainment systems offering movies, music and games. Premium Business passengers can also enjoy priority airport services, 180 degree lie-flat seats and food and wines showcasing Latin American produce.
The new Melbourne service is in addition to LATAM’s existing seven flights per week between Sydney and Santiago (via Auckland) and is in response to an increasing demand for flights between Latin America and Australia.
Once in Santiago, passengers have access to LATAM’s unrivalled South American network of 124 destinations including direct services to major cities such as Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Lima, Bogota and Quito.
