The first Qantas Melbourne - Tokyo direct flight took off at 9:15 this morning!
Announced in September the new daily service to Tokyo Narita is operated by an upgraded Airbus A330-300 aircraft and takes the number of Qantas seats on Japanese routes up to 6,000 per week, adding to the airline’s Sydney - Tokyo Haneda and Brisbane - Tokyo Narita routes which were launched in 2015.
The flights, which depart Melbourne at 9:15am and return at 7:30am, are timed to link with Qantas domestic flights to Hobart, Adelaide and Perth. Once in Japan passengers have access to Jetstar’s extensive Japanese network.
On board the A330 passengers will experience Qantas’s signature Marc Newson interiors and access to over 1,500 inflight entertainment options. Business Class passengers can enjoy a lie-flat Business Suite that can be reclined during takeoff and landing.
