Qantas launch new flights to Japan

Qantas continues their push into Asia this week with the announcement of new direct services to both Haneda and Narita Airports in Tokyo, adding more than 4000 seats per week to Japan.

New services will run as follows:

  • A new direct daily service from Sydney-Haneda from 31Jul15
  • A new direct Brisbane-Narita service four times a week from 02Aug15
  • Qantas will also fly to Narita on three alternate days from another Australian port to be announced shortly, meaning the airline will offer double daily services to Japan

Brisbane customers will be especially pleased as this is the first time Qantas has run a direct option from the sunshine state. It will also make Queensland more accessible to Japanese tourists. Their route will be serviced by A330s that are gradually being refurbished with the new design lie-flat Business Suites, upgraded Economy seating and in-flight entertainment system. More than half the A330 fleet is expected to be refurbished by the end of 2015.

For Sydneysiders, Haneda is actually closer to downtown Tokyo than the more often used Narita and your route will be operated by Qantas’ fleet of 747s.

We anticipate fares on these new routes will be released by next week, and Qantas has indicated a special sale fare for the new Brisbane-Narita service will be among them.
