We’ve been singing the praises of the new Qatar Airport for a while now, ever since it opened almost 3 years ago, and now we’re not the only ones.

Hamad International Airport in Doha has just picked up a 5 Star classification from Skytrax, only the sixth airport in the world to do so, and the first in the Middle East.

The prestigious rating is awarded to airports achieving the highest overall quality performance. Taking into account airport facilities, customer service, security, immigration, departures, arrivals and transfers, shop outlets and food and beverage facilities.

The airport currently serves over 30 million passengers each year which is expected to grow to 50 million and includes features such as:

  • Vitality Wellbeing & Fitness Centre
  • Vitality Spa
  • Squash Courts
  • Swimming Pool
  • Airport Hotel
  • Children’s Activity Nodes

  • Art exhibitions curated by Qatar Museum
  • Quiet rooms

The only other airports to hold a 5 Star rating are Singapore, Seoul, Hong Kong, Tokyo-Haneda and Munich.
