Are you flying Jetstar (JQ) as part of a Qantas ticket and do you know what’s included in your travel?

Passengers who have booked and paid for a Qantas fare, sometimes end up with a Jetstar flight in their itinerary simply due to Qantas not servicing that route daily [Hawaii] or perhaps at all [Bali, Osaka and Phuket]. Here’s what you can expect when flying on an airline within the Jetstar group and ticketed on Qantas (081) paper.

On Board Service
If you’re travelling on Jetstar International Economy Class on an A330 or 787 you’ll receive a meal, snack before arrival, amenity kit, one hot beverage and one non-alcoholic cold beverage. In-Flight Entertainment can be purchased on board the flight. If you’re an International Economy passenger on an A320 you’ll receive an AUD$10 voucher to spend on food and beverages on board and in-flight entertainment can be purchased if the flight is scheduled to be longer than ninety minutes.

Amenity Kit: Jetstar's amenity kit looks as follows as recently tested by Gemma in our office...

Meals: here are some sample meals we've had on Jetstar international services

In flight entertainment: A tablet can be rented on A330 flights or seat back entertainment screens feature on the 787 Dreamliner, There is a kids zone and even e-magazines on the iPad.

Frequent Flyer Points Earning
Members travelling Jetstar Business Class earn points on Jetstar flight numbers as part of a Qantas international fare. Economy Class members travelling on Jetstar flight with a Qantas codeshare flight number earn points and status credits when booked Y, B, H or K booking classes (your consultant can make sure of this for you). Points are also earned in L class on the oneworld round the world ticket, see our sister brand RoundAbout Travel for round the world airfares. If you are an Economy Class passenger travelling Jetstar on a Jetstar flight number, even if it’s part of a Qantas ticket, you will not earn points or status credits.

Seating:
Seating doesn't differ between being on a Jetstar or Qantas flight number, but while we are here the economy seat looks as follows...

A330: Jetstar have a 31 inch seat pitch and 17.5" seat width. So whilst the seats aren't as sleek as the Qantas Recaro product they offer much the same experience without a real difference in comfort.

787 Dreamliner:
