Finnair opened their brand new Platinum Wing Lounge in Helsinki over the weekend and we were on site to take a look around.
The new platinum lounge is a part of Finnair's major Helsinki Airport renovations, including an upgrade of the business class lounge which is currently underway.
The new Platinum Lounge features a modern, Scandi take on classic Art Deco designs, with rich navy and grey upholstery, wooden and metallic accents, and lush carpets throughout.
The lounge has seating for 155 people with seating areas differentiated for working, relaxing, and dining.
Comfortable arm chairs are located to take in the views over the tarmac.
The lounge features an extensive buffet stocked with fresh Finnish flavours, as well as an a la carte dining which is available from from 12-5pm.
The buffet also features an impressive standalone cheeseboard.
The focal point of the lounge includes a fully stocked bar with an extensive cocktail list a barista made coffee.
A Finnair lounge wouldn't be complete with a sauna, and this one is like nothing you've seen before. The same rich colour scheme and plush upholstery of the lounge is carried through to the sauna, along with a ceiling that changes colours inline with outside lighting. Nature sounds are played in the sauna and the private shower suits to provide a calming relaxing atmosphere. (Note the sauna is a uni-sex space with towels required at all times).
The stylish shower suits are stocked with luxurious skincare products and can be booked via a sophisticated booking system. Available showers are visible on the display screen, with the option to pre book your shower time, great if you have a longer stay in the lounge and would like to ensure availability towards the end of your stay. Each shower suite can be booked for 30 mins.
The Finnair Platinum Lounge is located in the non-Schengen area, just beyond the Business Class Lounge near Gate 50. The lounge is open daily from 5:30am to Midnight.
Access to the Platinum lounge is restricted to Finnair Plus Platinum & Platinum Lumo members, and oneworld Emerald members. However temporary access is being provided to Finnair Plus Gold members while the Business Class lounge is undergoing renovations and capacity is reduced. (The Business Class lounge renovations are expected to be completed in November 2019)
