In terms of privacy and space this lounge is spacious, often not too busy and a great place to escape the airport hustle and bustle. It features a modern layout and décor and there are plenty of comfy seats grouped throughout also.
The Business Centre has several Apple Mac computers available for those who don’t BYO and as a bonus they provide great views of the all OneWorld tarmac below, a plane spotter’s heaven. The Wi-Fi is exceptionally quick too, equal to the NBN speeds here at home.
The food served in the lounge is of a reasonable quality but disappointing in its lack of choices. There’s not much more than deli meats, bread rolls and small dessert finger-foods such as cookies, and the only hot food available during our visit was pumpkin soup. Non-alcoholic drinks are the usual array of tea, coffee, soft drinks (Orangina!), juice and water.
On the plus side of this one is a wide range of alcohol with an automatic Japanese beer dispenser serving Asahi and the fridge stocked with spirits, wine, sake (exclusive to this lounge) and canned beer including VB for the Aussies. A nice touch for the wine enthusiasts is that all the wine appears to be sourced from wineries close to home with varieties from both the Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley.
The showers here give you an opportunity to freshen up before your flight and the Australian touch is continued in the bathrooms with Jurlique branded products.
Overall a well-designed lounge that could be improved by a much better choice of food, in particular the hot menu needs improvement. Perhaps one of the reasons this lounge is often quiet is because oneworld Emerald and Qantas Platinum members are welcome at Japan Airlines’ First Class Lounge upstairs where the food selection is much better.
