While flying through Sydney Airport recently we visited both the American Express Lounge and Skyteam Lounge (keep an eye out for our review coming soon) as both lounges are right next to each other we decided to check out both and see which one we preferred.
The AMEX Lounge is located next gate to 24 inside the Sydney International terminal, entry is available with eligible American Express cards and once inside members can enjoy complimentary WiFi, food and drinks.
Arriving at the AMEX Lounge we were greeted by the striking living green wall that leads you into the main lounge. The overall vibe of the lounge is very homely and intimate making you feel calm and relaxed as soon as you enter. Although on the smaller side the lounge has a range of seating options including a shared benched with stools as well as armchairs arranged around tables and facing the amazing view out onto the runway. Even though there are different seating options the lounge did fill up quickly so it is a good idea to get there early if possible to get the best seat.
Towards one end of the lounge is the bar area which is staffed with both a bar attender and a barista making fresh coffee. On offer is a range of food options including fresh pastries, fruit, lollies, hot breakfast options and a selection of cheese and cold meats. Behind the bar are beers on tap, a range of spirits to mix your favourite cocktail and a selection of premium wines. Alongside the staffed bar there is also a self-serve fridge filled with soft drink, water and juice if you are looking for something on the go.
The AMEX Lounge is fully equipped to relax or work before your flight with powerpoint stations throughout and fast WiFi to keep you connected while in the lounge. If you prefer to relax or catch up on news before setting off, the quiet lounge has local newspapers and the latest travel magazines available for you to peruse. There are also flight information display screens in the lounge to keep you up to date.
The AMEX lounge is open from 6am to 11pm daily in both Melbourne and Sydney international airports, to enter you need to have an eligible AMEX card including the following -
