Japan Airlines has started trialling the use of robots that will carry your baggage around the airport for you.
The robot is programmed to work in confined spaces and passageways and can move to avoid obstacles including people.
The rather futuristic sounding Self Navigating Autonomous Intelligent Vehicle is being trialled to assist passengers with their bags from baggage collection through to the exit of the airport. So your robot carries your bag … and helps you find the exit. A double bonus in our book.
The initial trials are being held at Fukuoka Domestic Airport to assist passengers using wheelchairs and passengers travelling with young children who may not have a spare hand.
The trial runs until April 28th, fingers crossed it gets extended to International airports.
