Japan Airlines has been certified as a 5 Star Airline at the Skytrax 2018 Awards, one of only eleven in the world to receive the accolade.
The 5 Star rating is considered the benchmark of global excellence amongst airlines and takes into consideration the service at the airport as well the onboard product.

The other oneworld member airlines who have received the 5 Star rating are Cathay Pacific and Qatar Airways.
SkyTrax World's Best Airline Winners
The winners of the World’s Best Airline, as voted by over 20 million passengers, were also announced overnight with Qatar Airways again taking out the World's Best Business Class and coming in 2nd for the best airline over all. Cathay Pacific, also made it into the top 10 overall and the top 10 business class.
Qantas had a better year than in 2017, jumping up to 11th place overall in the worldwide awards, 6th in the best business class awards and taking out top spot for Australia/Pacific.
