Qantas has announced the introduction of classic French-inspired menus, exclusive pyjamas, and amenity kits. This initiative comes as the airline prepares to launch new direct flights between Perth and Paris next month. The focus is on enhancing the travel experience for Business Class passengers.
Starting on 12 July, Qantas will become the only airline to offer direct services between Perth and Paris, adding more than 75,000 seats annually between Australia and Europe. This launch comes just in time for the Paris Olympics, adding to the excitement of this year’s major event.
Catriona Larritt, Qantas Group Chief Customer and Digital Officer, highlighted that the new onboard offerings for the Paris flights are designed to initiate customers' European summer holidays as soon as they board the aircraft.
“Our new direct Perth to Paris flights will reduce travel time by approximately three hours compared to the current fastest route, and they are expected to be highly popular, especially during the busy summer period,” said Larritt. “We know our customers love our signature pyjamas and enjoying a drink and meal during their flight, so we’re thrilled to introduce these bespoke initiatives to give them a taste of Paris before they even land.”
Business Class passengers on the new Paris route will be offered chic limited-edition pyjamas paired with matching French-inspired amenity kits. Designed by Australian designer Martin Grant, the navy pyjamas illustrate the journey between Australia and France.
Martin Grant, who has lived in Paris for 30 years, expressed his excitement about this collaboration with Qantas. “The direct Perth-Paris flights will make it easier to travel between my two homes. I was delighted to work with Qantas again to create these pyjamas and amenity kits to celebrate the new flights and the elegance of French design,” said Grant.
Business Class passengers on the new flights will enjoy French culinary classics curated by Qantas Creative Director of Food, Beverage and Service, Neil Perry. The menu includes bouillabaisse of snapper and Skull Island prawns, pithivier of chicken and tarragon with onion puree, and chocolate mousse with caramel poached pears, almonds, and chantilly cream.
Following a recent revamp of the airline's spirits menu, Business Class customers on the Paris flights will also be able to enjoy a French 75 cocktail, a refreshing aperitif made with gin, lemon, and sparkling wine.
Neil Perry commented, “French cuisine is renowned for its classic dishes. We spent considerable time developing a menu that balances the richness and freshness of French flavours while maintaining the familiarity our customers appreciate.”
Additionally, French bistro favourites such as crème caramel and goat’s cheese salad with walnut vinaigrette will be available in selected Qantas First and Business lounges throughout Australia.
